There’s something special about weekends. No alarms, no rush, just a quiet kind of freedom to move at your own pace. Over the past few years, I’ve fallen in love with the idea of slow living—doing less, but doing it with intention. It’s not about being lazy. It’s about being present.
So today, I thought I’d take you through a weekend in my life—simple, cozy, and exactly what I need to recharge.
🌤 Saturday Morning: Slow Starts & Strong Coffee
My Saturday starts with sunlight creeping through the curtains and the luxury of not setting an alarm. I stay in bed a little longer than usual—reading, journaling, or just staring at the ceiling in quiet thought.
Once I’m up, I make my favorite pour-over coffee. There’s something therapeutic about the ritual: grinding the beans, waiting for the water to boil, letting the aroma fill the kitchen. I sip it slowly, usually with some music or a podcast in the background.
Breakfast is often something comforting—think scrambled eggs, avocado toast, or a slice of banana bread I made earlier in the week.
📚 Midday: Errands, Books, and a Bit of Life Admin
After a slow start, I usually head out for a quick grocery run or a walk to the local farmers’ market. I try to shop small and local when I can—there’s something grounding about picking out fresh produce and chatting with familiar vendors.
Back home, I’ll spend some time reading. My current read is [Insert Book Title], and it’s one of those books you don’t want to rush. I might also spend an hour doing “life admin”—laundry, tidying up, answering emails—but I keep it light. The goal is to feel accomplished, not drained.
🍲 Saturday Night: Homemade Dinner & Screen-Free Time
In the evening, I love cooking something cozy. Sometimes it’s a one-pot pasta, other times a hearty soup or stir-fry. Cooking without rushing is one of my favorite weekend luxuries.
After dinner, I’ll often skip screens. Instead, I’ll light a candle, journal, or flip through an art book. If I’m in the mood, I might draw or brainstorm ideas for future blog posts. This screen-free time helps me wind down and sleep better.
🌧 Sunday: Rainy Vibes, Reflection, and Reset
If it’s raining (which it often is), Sunday is all about leaning into the mood. I’ll throw on a sweater, brew a second cup of coffee, and write in my journal. Sunday mornings are perfect for reflecting—what went well during the week, what I want to carry into the next.
Sometimes I’ll do a bit of gentle stretching or yoga at home. No fancy routines, just movement and mindfulness.
Later, I might call a friend or family member, plan my meals for the week, or prep a few things to make weekday mornings easier.
By Sunday night, I try to log off early, make some tea, and get into bed with a book.
What Slow Living Means to Me
This weekend wasn’t packed with events or outings—and that’s exactly the point. Slow living isn’t about doing nothing; it’s about doing what matters. It’s about creating space in your life to breathe, notice the small joys, and take care of yourself in a gentle, sustainable way.
If life feels too fast lately, maybe your next weekend doesn’t need to be “productive.” Maybe it just needs to feel like you.
Thanks for spending the weekend with me,
